UBC East Campus

East Campus is a bustling neighbourhood situated between Wesbrook Mall and Acadia Park the neighbourhood which predominately consists of faculty housing and market housing. East Campus is near UBC Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Dental School. UBC Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Dental Schools are 10 minutes walking distance.

The East Campus neighbourhood is quite small, with roughly 697 residential units located in 13 buildings, but is energetic and distinctly family-oriented.

Commonly referred to by UBC students as University Village,” East Campus offers many amenities and is close to bus stops and recreational facilities. The neighbourhood offers the convenience of a small marketplace shopping mall, featuring Granville Island Produce grocery store and a Staples store, amid coffee shops, Chinese and Japanese restaurants, a bakery, a pizza parlor, a submarine sandwich shop and a few other cafés, shops and fast-food restaurants.

UBC Freehold Property

In addition to leasehold condos, East Campus has two roads that contain freehold housing: condominiums along King Road and townhomes on Acadia Road. These are the ONLY freehold homes in UBC.

The Acadia Road properties are within the Acadia Park Faculty housing area, which offers day care facilities for children of mature students and faculty, with a waiting list for other residents. In addition to the convenience of a small, local mall, additional amenities that make East Campus a popular choice for young families include its walking distance to Wesbrook Village Mall for more shopping choices, and its proximity to the new Norma Rose Point Elementary School. The area also houses UBC Hospital, the Pharmaceutical Faculty as well as the Faculty of Dentistry.

For the athletically-inclined, the neighbourhood also contains the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, as well as the Track and Field facilities, the UBC's tennis and fitness centre and the campus soccer and baseball fields. Recreational opportunities also include East Campus Park, which contains beautifully preserved forest and walking trails for the whole family to enjoy.
