Ferris wheel awaiting entry for this week’s PlayDome at BC Place

Spring Break 2014 is upon us as both Point Grey private schools and the Vancouver School Board releases the hounds either this coming week or the next. For family homes in the UBC area that are remaining in town for this stretch their household will fast become a haven of restlessness if an onslaught of activities are not planned for the kids. In today’s blog I decided to offer up a few recommendations for notable Spring Break events in Greater Vancouver that the entire family can enjoy. The following top three affairs will require that you come down from the perch of the UBC community to join in on the fun – but that’s what this season is all about – get out there and explore!

Best 3 Spring Break Events in Vancouver

PlayDome at BC Place – March 15 to 23

PlayDome at BC Place in downtown Vancouver is the country’s largest indoor carnival. The fair offers nearly 50 rides and attractions. Many of the dizzy inducing rides that you wait all year for at the PNE can be found here at PlayDome, along with more casual ones for the tots and nausea averse. At only $29 for an unlimited ride day-pass and $6 spectator pass (let your kids defy gravity while you watch comfortably from the sidelines) this event offers much of the fun of the PNE but at a fraction of the cost.

LEGO Travel Adventure at Science World – Ongoing until May 6

Didn’t have the opportunity to pack up the family and take a vacation during spring break? Fret not and travel the world along with everyone’s favorite building blocks at the Telus World of Science this spring break. LEGO brand presents their take on wanderlust with this exhibition that delivers a culturally enriching experience as attendees soak up the incredible displays of LEGO architecture as it applies to the countries and their attractions around the globe. From land to sea and sky LEGO Travel Adventure is out of this world!

10th Anniversary CelticFest St Patrick’s Day Parade in Downtown Vancouver – March 16

Get the family outfitted in green and grab your shamrock shakes from Mc D’s as you bring the troop down to the 2014 St Patrick’s Day Parade in the downtown core of Vancouver. In addition to the Granville Street parade the CelticFest affair includes street entertainment, food vendors, kids’ activities, artisans, exhibitions, shopping, and more. CelticFest is entering its 10th year so you can expect big things for St Patrick’s Day in Vancouver more than ever before.

To all of the households that I have gotten to know in the UBC area I hope to see you at one or more of the above events in the week ahead. For those of you in the process of finding a home in the UBC area, friends I haven’t met yet, I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your needs. Please feel free to contact my UBC real estate office anytime – I don’t break in the spring, or any time of the year, when it comes to serving my community.
